More help needed, my friends. I have an iPod Nano (6th gen), which I've synced to my desktop for a year now. I want to transition over to my laptop though, so I put my library on the laptop, but the iPod won't sync. It just says "unavailable" every time I try to sync it. Help please!

Need more information. II posted a whole iTunes help post.
1. Are the operating systems on each computer the same?
2. Can you see the iDevice in iTunes when you connect it?
3. Are you sure the cable you are using works?
4. Does the transferred library play in iTunes on the laptop. And is the music on the iDevice or some of it the same?

1: No, the PC used Vista, the laptop uses 7.

2: Yes.

3: I used it all the time when syncing to my desktop.

4: Yes. I added each song manually, one at a time. And they all play.

Okay. Here is a general suggestion. I can make it better, but here's off the cuff.
First when you connect the iDevice you have to change the library it syncs with. This is why in my post I suggest you choose a computer and stick with it because the change over is some work.
Hook it up tab to music and check the box on how you want to sync the music. You can do it several ways. After you check the box iTunes will tell you it will clear the iDevice and install the new library on it and ask if you are sure. You will also be changing libraries.
If you say you are sure keep going down and press enter on sync.
I did not describe it exactly, but that is generally how it is done. If you want detail say and I'll post it.

Yes, details would be appreciated. Where do I tab to exactly? Where is the checkhx? What does it say? Where is the sync button to push? (The only one I know of is in the "devices" submenu.)

sorry but this is why I almost smashed my last Ipod against an apple reps face but instead opted to give it to my sister-in-law. Sise, got to love copy and paste on android's side.

Well I hate wasting good money, so I master the device. Android, or iDevice,or MP3 players, I sync them up.
Android is a bit easier to sync, but you still have to follow some steps.
I love the iDevices over Android because I can say "play Bruno Mars" and Siri says okay playing Bruno Mars! I can't ask Android yet to do that. Soon, maybe, due to the new OS for it.

yes you can, sorry to burst your bubble, just tell google now to play "rihanna it will play it. Sise, some people need to go play with a jelly bean device lol "for real""., lol, Its okay, kinda funny that an Iphone users tells an android what his device can not do when set user "me" uses an android on a daily bases. Sorry voice action was doing play set artist before serie came along.

And how long has Jelly Bean been available? Suppose I am in a 2 year contract and got my phone in say November?
It cost me to get out of that contract.
Apple, Android, regular MP3 players just require knowing how. It is as simple as that. Android is no better as far as this goes or wors, it is just different.
You have to sync it with a Media player, it doesn't do this for you.

Um... no you do not have to sink an android to a media player, who ever told you that is full of it. My phone never sees windows media player or winamp, that ant happening. Now on the mac side, here is where crap does hit the fan when it comes to samsung devices. UYou have to use Kies to move files or a third party app to add or remove devices. You could use the Kies air to cut and copy or delte files with in the macs browser but its not that stable. Hints why I just boot camp my mac and slapped win7 on it. Problem solved and no need to get an Iphone for me.

If you don't get your music from an online source, or via a phone to phone hookup, you have to use something else. That is called a media player as far as I'm concerned.
You'll just have to face it. Some of us like our iDevices. We are not switching to Android popcicle, Chocolate Cake, or Orio Cookie! Sorry.

I do get my music from diffrent sources, no need for a media player to sink it on to my device. Good old copy and paste does the trick until you reach the land of lion and mountain lion. Then old sammy and apple pissing contest shows its ugly head. Then you do have to use Kies for a samsung device to put music on a galaxy device, hints why my mac is boot camped. Sorry the media library issue apple has from one laptop to another so needs to be fixed. you have no idea how many ask me to put music on their apple devices, I inform them if I do their music will be whiped and my library including the music they want will be sinked. (: Fix this issue apple then I might come back to using Itunes until then, I will just stick with a mac and boot camp.

An now what? Hmm? I personally think it is super easy to get music on to my iDevices. All that is require is the method. I have that.
Device, cable, or not, source, time, method, yep. It works.
I've even got the method to put music on an Android device. I happen to think its easy too.
Bottom line. It's all the same to me.
This poster wanted to know how to do music on his device, not argue the pros and cons of Android Verses IOS. Just wanted to hear some tunes.
Crank it up, now!
